Really craving a Full English right now. We should advertise that we eat blood pudding more often, might make us seem tougher on the world stage

I am literally Googling "where to get a full English in Amman" as we speak and I'm afraid I'm about to be very disappointed

Finally something the English really are truly great at.

Such a fun read! I think I have had a full English breakfast and the Scottish variation with kippers and porridge too (thank you, Mom!). At this point in life, a full English breakfast is too much for my digestion. I actually prefer the “continental” variety, assuming it includes great coffee and croissants, not the tired day-old version though. Is that sacrilegious?

I also love a good continental breakfast, as long as the pastries are fresh and I can eat as many as I want 😊 none of this one-croissant nonsense!!

100% agree!🥰🥐☕️

And I’m no fan of English breakfasts, but lived on canned baked beans on heavily buttered toast throughout school years. So much better than it sounds.

This is an elite breakfast

Loved the comments on English relationships, something we’ve thought a lot about over the years. Our American friends seem to need regular contact and complain when we move away. Our English friends just accept distance and years and random contact as a part of life. I’m guessing this harkens back to the empire and all that, when it took forever to get anywhere. I haven’t seen an English school chum in decades, but I’m quite certain we would pick up right where we left off.

You and @tomfish are two of my favorites here. Great interview, really good questions.

😊 thanks for reading! I'm with the English on this one--I've never had the gift for keeping in touch that many of my American friends have. It doesn't mean I love them any less or that I wouldn't want to pick up where we left off, just that I think it's normal for there to be times of closer contact and times where you, as you put it, accept distance. Makes sense that that attitude would be a vestige of the empire for the English!

The Rosemary Branch was my local back in the 90s.

Small world! Sounds like the Rosemary Branch is an institution.

It's not quite my local but it's definitely my most visited London pub!

Such a fun interview! I love English breakfasts, but I probably have never had a “Full” English, as I haven’t eaten one in England, even though I’ve been there. Love your 24 hour recommendations, Tom. And it’s always fun to read anything you write. I bought a Bill Bryson book I found at a used bookstore thinking of you, called The Lost Continent: Notes on Small Town America, which I’m excited to get to. Hopefully it’s as fun as reading your stuff. Cheers, mates!

😊 thanks, Maureen! I had so much fun reading Tom's answers!

That was truly a " amazing, incredible, out of this world" interview. Nicely done.

However, I wish it had been a little more hardhitting and gotten to those uncomfortable questions such as "Is Tom's real last name Fish-and-Chips? If not, why not because that would be awesome!"

Also, does Tom have an alibi for when Kate Middleton went missing?

Tom will always be Tom Fish-and-Chips to me from now on 🤣

Sorry, Tom! (Not sorry...)

Thanks Michael!

Unfortunately it is not fish-and-chips, though perhaps I should look at getting it changed...

As for Kate Middleton, I will take no further questions at this time.

That was a totally fresh joke, right? You've never heard that one before!

I love a full Irish! I once road tripped through Ireland with my mom, and have such good memories of staying at little B&Bs in the country and having full Irishes every morning 😊

My father was from Lancashire so a Full English is part of my DNA. And one of my South Dakota born husband's favorite things.

I am a city mouse and while I enjoy a few days in the country if we get a generous invitation I will almost never plan a trip there.

I'm also a city girl, Gillian! Though for some reason I feel the Cotswolds calling my name lately...

Same here about the countryside Gillian! I'm always in the city by default.
